(I will have a video tutorial at the end of this post.) And for the border, I used herringbone half double crochet. You will need to know how to work a half double crochet cluster and a double crochet for the main part of the blanket. I wanted to keep the pumpkin color to a minimum since it’s such a bold color and I think using it with the two colors of blue helped tone it down a bit too. I think that gives you a truer look at the colors. This is a flat lay of it as a work in progress. So if you have had trouble in the past with Caron Simply Soft, you might give it another try with a Susan Bates hook. A Susan Bates hook is a sharper more inline hook so it tends to hold onto the yarn a bit better. I compensate for that by using a Susan Bates hook. Some say that because of the lack of bounce, the yarn is more splitty. I paired country blue, light country blue with pumpkin from Caron Simply Soft for this latest baby boy-themed blanket and I really, really, like how it turned out.Ĭaron Simply Soft is one of my favorite affordable acrylics to use because of its rich vibrant colors, and because it has less “bounce” than traditional acrylic. I don’t think my pictures even do this blanket justice. It’s that pop of pumpkin that I absolutely love. Since it is officially fall now, I thought I’d reshare a little pumpkin spice today! This is our classic Country Blue Stripes Baby Blanket.
